For Patrick

I'm writing this blog for my good friend Patrick who likes to argue about the finer points of economic decision making. He also thinks that brownie for lunch is a disgusting idea.

Hail Patrick....

starting again

Thinking about starting this website again....dunno if anyone will read it though.

...Anyway I'm in Boston now....in a hotelroom watcing the worst TV show in the history of the world. Room Raiders on MTV, what is the deal with thos nitwits that voluntarily display their stupidity on national television.

We found an apartment...YAY....great apartment, great location great price...great great great. Signed the lease yesterday and moved our stuff in today. Maybe I'll throw some pictures in here soon so you can see.

Iceland on Thursday and new job on Friday...exciting.

P.S. I've noticed that a lot of Bostonians say "Have a good one" instead of "Have a nice day" what's the deal with that?

P.P.S please comment below so I know if anyone is reading this.....

London Calling

Yup, I'm in London, believe it or not.....

I arrived back to Iceland from Vienna late on Thursday where I had been for a week following the Seltjarnarnes wind orchestra around (a looong story).

On Friday night me and my friend Brynja went out to dinner and than back to my place where we got ready for a night on the town while drinking wine and a few gin and tonics.  early in my drunken state I decided to call Laura and see how she was doing.   She was havng fun at working on a lab on the fifth floor of McArthur...no better way to spend a Friday night haha.

We met some friends down town and went to a few bars/clubs and danced the skin off our feet, literally.
At around 2:30 a.m. Brynja looked like a zombie and started to bump into people on the dance floor so we got her a cab and sent her home and then danced some more...despite crammed toes and bleeding heels ;o)

We then ended the night by having a hot dog in the famous hot dog stand down town....a favorite "Restaurant" of Metallica when they visited Iceland in June. Then I took a cab home to my lovely bed and totally overslept the morning after. My parents were going to pick me up at 1 p.m. to drive to the airport and at 12:15 p.m. I still hadn't started to pack my suitcase!

Anyway, I'll be in London till Thursday.....funfunfun :o)

About time...

I update this page.

Well, let's see since the last post Greece has won the EURO soccer cup, Doddi became 24 years old, my sister 30 and the Icelandic prime minister went to Washington to kiss Bush's ass.

Tomorrow I'm going to Vienna where I'll stay for a week and next Saturday, two days after I come back from Vienna I'm going to London. Funfunfun. Can't wait to be a tourist with a fanny pack....hahaha....wouldn't be seen dead wearing a fanny pack.

Looks like me and Doddi will be expecting quite a few visits to Miami this fall. A friend of ours has been accepted to MIT and they are sending him to Miami to go to some international orientation at Miami Dade! Don't ask me why.

I remember when I had my international orientation at UM..it was fun....no I'm sorry, it was unbelievably boring. They were supposed to give us some advice of how to adapt to life in the U.S.....like:

"In America it's not uncommon for people to shower every day"

Yup, that advice has gotten me through some tough times.

Anyway, then another friend of ours is coming for almost two months because he's training to be a pilot and it's much cheaper for him to fly for 65 hours in Miami than here.

AND, my parents are probably coming for my graduation in December.

Anyway...better do something useful now...like buy euros. If I find a netcafé in Vienna I'll keep you posted.

EURO 2004

Doddi is bringing some friends (and pizza) over to watch the first game in the quarter finals for the EURO cup....soccer...for those of you that have no clue what I'm talking about ;o)

Yup, it's Portugal v.s. Holland and then Grecce v.s. the Check Republic (hope I spelled it right) tomorrow. The winners of these matches will play for the EURO cup on Sunday.
That day, women all across Europe will celebrate the ending of this period where their husbands/boyfriends/fathers/brothers transform into hooligans and can't have a decent conversation about anything besides soccer. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if statistics show that divorce rate in Europe goes up around these soccer tournaments.

Thermodynamics for dummies

Remember when you asked me if it's cold in Iceland and I said no?.....Well, I have come to discover that it IS, in fact, cold in Iceland but Icelanders are too proud to admit it, especially to themselves. I'm not saying that it's always cold but some temperatures that Icelanders consider to be hot are not so hot.

Like when I picked up Doddi from the airport yesterday morning I was wearing a sweater and a jacket. It was sunny, windy and probably around 65F. At the airport there was a woman wearing denim shorts and a tank top and she went on and on about what a hot day it was.

I mentioned this to my friend and she got all defensive about it. She was like "well it's too hot in Miami and too cold here, it's getting pretty hard to please you"

Home Sweet Home

Well, my first day back home has been...well quite good.
After 18 hours of travel and no sleep what so ever I landed in Keflavik at 6 a.m.
Doddi picked me up at the airport and I went straight to bed when I got home.

I slept till 12 p.m. and decided there was no way in hell that I was going to get out of bed so I just slept some more...or until 4 p.m. Then Doddi got a call from some Norwegian musicians that desperately needed a drummer for tonight because theirs had missed the plane to Iceland and they're playing at some jazz club in Akureyri (a small town up north) tonight and for some members of the Norwegian royal family, that are visiting Iceland, tomorrow.
So he dragged me out of bed to give him a lift to the airport and was on a plane at 5 p.m.
As a result of this we are invited to some concert and an afterparty to honor the Norwegian crown prince on Tuesday night...

Tonight I've been trying to unpack my suitcase, taking a little break here and another there. I hate unpacking...almost as much as packing.

Anyway, tomorrow the fun will start. Don't know what it'll be yet but I promise to keep you posted...
